El Campanil Theatre presents George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah”. This presentation of “Messiah” is not a sing-along, but a concert performed by a trained chorus and orchestra.
Handel’s most successful and best-known choral compilation, “Messiah” was first performed in Dublin, Ireland in 1742 and conducted by the composer. El Campanil’s concert includes the first section of “Messiah,” known as the Christmas section, and selections from the other two parts of the oratorio. The concert ends with the singing of the well-known “Hallelujah Chorus.”
The chorus consists of East County residents who meet once a week in Brentwood through the Liberty Adult Education program. “Everything associated with choral music is always good, and it is always fun – never more so than when performing Handel’s ‘Messiah,’” said Conductor Sue Stuart.
