Antioch Police Officer Reunites Missing Dog with Family After 2 Years

When Antioch Police Officer Amiri was performing a routine traffic stop at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14th, a very friendly, snorting French Bulldog jumped into his patrol vehicle. Officer Amiri brought the cooperative runaway to Antioch Animal Services where it was discovered the dog had a microchip. Panther Tails is a Runaway Hit

For the second year, Panther Tails is a runaway hit. Pairing Antioch High School’s cross country team with Antioch Animal Shelter dogs, the program features the students taking shelter dogs out for a run in Antioch’s Historic Downtown. On Sept. 29, the 50-some runners took eight tail-wagging pups for a jog, and will do this weekly through the cross country season. Antioch Animal Services is dedicated to promoting animal welfare and public awareness which results in humans and animals living together in harmony. Last week, 29 dogs, which included some harder to place senior/medical cases, and a litter of 10 puppies, have landed safely in foster homes with local rescues.
