The Sycamore Back to School Block Party at Contra Loma Estates Park on Saturday was a great success. Participants were treated to haircuts, live performances, school supplies, food, bounce houses, games, groceries and much more. It was wonderful to see so many folks in need of a helping hand receive support from the local Sycamore community. Genesis Church took the lead with help from Golden Hills Community Church and others. Mayor Wright and Council Member Wilson spent the afternoon providing information on the many programs the City offers, including the Mayor’s Youth Initiative, PAL (Police Activities League) and recreation programs and services. Council Member Thorpe also attended the event. As always, Chief Brooks was a hit with the crowd as he visited the many booths and brought the Police Department to the community, something he is passionate about doing in his role as the Chief.
