Resources For Antioch Businesses

April 3, 2020

Dear Antioch Businesses,

As a valued Antioch Business, we want to make sure you know that your city government is here for you and will continue to provide you with updated information as it is made available.  On March 31, 2020, the County Shelter in Place Order was extended to at least May 3rd.  In that Order, the definition of an “Essential Business†was refined to add additional safety measures to our communities (please see the Order).  Two additional documents have been provided to better define â€œEssential Services†and the â€œSocial Distancing Protocolâ€.

As a result of the shelter-in-place orders, Congress has created emergency programs that may assist your business. The programs are as follows:

  • The Economic Injury Disaster Loan Emergency Advance- This program provides up to $10,000 to businesses that successfully completes the application and will not have to be repaid.  If your business is eligible, please apply here, EIDL; and

  • Paycheck Protection Program- This SBA loan product is designed to help businesses keep their workforce during the crisis.  This loan is administered through any SBA 7(a) lender (banks and credit unions) and begins April 3, 2020.  Portions of this loan if applied to payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities will be forgiven. Please see the program details here, PPP.

In addition to the above-mentioned national assistance efforts, the Antioch City Council adopted an urgency ordinance enacting a temporary moratorium on evictions for commercial and residential tenants financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  This action provides tenants with a 90-day grace period per month of arrears to pay their landlords. This is not a rent forgiveness policy.  The ordinance will remain in effect until May 31, 2020, unless a later date is announced by way of the local emergency or the Governor’s proclamation of the State emergency.  Please see the press release and Ordinance.

The City’s Economic Development team is here for you.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at (925) 779-7012 or [email protected].  We want to ensure Antioch businesses arise from this crisis strong.

Thank you for making Antioch your business home.

Please be safe.

Sincerely,
Kwame P. Reed Signature
