How Does COVID-19 Impact Antioch Water?

< All Topics

COVID-19 does not impact the quality or supply of your drinking water. While it is always advisable to stock bottled water at home in case of emergencies that disrupt the water supply, the presence of the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water supplies, and the City of Antioch does not expect this health outbreak to disrupt water service to the community.

Your tap water meets strict state and federal guidelines. The City conducts weekly testing throughout the entire distribution system, as well as daily testing from both of its treatment plants to ensure your water meets rigorous water quality standards.

The City of Antioch Water Treatment Plant staff has been monitoring the COVID-19 updates provided by Contra Costa Water District, California Office of Emergency Services, American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Water Treatment Staff will also view a webinar on the COVID-19 virus provided by AWWA this Friday. We will continue to provide current information as it becomes available.

For more information on your water, please look for our Annual Water Quality report found on the Water Treatment page of the City of Antioch’s web site www.antiochca.gov/public-works-department/water-treatment.
