Citywide Curfew to End Monday, June 8, 2020

City of Antioch to Implement Citywide Curfew on Monday, June 1, 2020  and Ending on Monday, June 8, 2020

The curfew will begin each night at 6:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2020, and expire at 5:00 AM on Monday, June 8, 2020.

  • Monday, June 1, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at 5:00 AM 
  • Tuesday, June 2, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 5:00 AM 
  • Wednesday, June 3, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 5:00 AM
  • Thursday, June 4, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Friday, June 5, 2020, at 5:00 AM 
  • Friday, June 5, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 5:00 AM 
  • Saturday, June 6, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Sunday, June 7, 2020, at 5:00 AM 
  • Sunday, June 7, 2020 curfew begins at 6:00 PM and ends Monday, June 8, 2020, at 5:00 AM 

If the City determines that the curfew needs to be extended, the City of Antioch will make an announcement on Monday, June 8, 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the Curfew

 

There is also a Countywide Curfew Order, which one do I follow?

The City of Antioch’s Curfew supersedes the Countywide curfew order. Antioch residence, visitors, and workers will be required to stay indoors beginning at 6:00 PM each night. 

What is the curfew order?

No person shall be upon a public street, avenue, boulevard, place, walkway, alley, park or any public area or unimproved realty within the City of Antioch between 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day

Are there exemptions?

Exemptions include public safety personnel, health care providers, people traveling to and from work, the homeless, and media representatives. This order is subject to change or be extended.

Can businesses stay open past 6 p.m.? 

Workers can come and go to their workplaces during the curfew but most businesses cannot stay open to the public.  Because of the exception for emergency medical care, urgent care and pharmacies for example may stay open to the public.

May janitors travel to their job if they begin at 5 a.m.? 

Yes.  There is an exception under the curfew order for people who are traveling to and from work, and this is the time that they can sanitize the buildings when they are not occupied to help make them safe from the coronavirus for workers and others.  

May businesses stay open until 6 p.m. if it means that their staff will have to travel home after 6 p.m.? 

Yes.  Businesses may stay open until 6 p.m., but may not remain open to the public after that time.  Employees may travel home after 6 p.m. under an exception for people who are traveling to/from work.

 

Are newspaper delivery drivers allowed to pick up and deliver newspapers during the curfew?

Yes, under the exception of media. 

Are operations that are part of the supply chain delivering goods to essential businesses, like trucks delivering food and medicine to grocery stores and pharmacies, allowed to continue during the curfew?

Yes, in light of the COVID-19 emergency, they may continue to deliver those goods.

May essential businesses like grocery stores stay open past 6 p.m.? 

The curfew order does not include an exception for essential businesses other than emergency operations.  Grocery stores may not remain open to the public after 6 p.m.
