Antioch Police Department Goes Above And Beyond

A Happy Ending Back in August, an Antioch citizen was riding his bike near Prewett Park on Lone Tree Way when an unknown man in a brown truck approached him and robbed him of his bicycle. Through some great investigative work, on September 4th, the suspect and the bike were located, and the suspect was arrested.

Now, normally that would be a happy ending to a story like this. However, members of the Antioch Police Department felt a strong desire to help the man and took things a step further. With the help of Ron Lopez, the owner of β€œThe Bike Shop – Schwinn City,” our Officers were able to get the victim’s bike repaired and updated with a new rear tire and seat, new front assembly, and a general tune-up. As this was his primary method of transportation working six days a week, he was understandably happy to get his bike back and appreciative of the repairs made!

This is not the first time Ron and his business have been able to help a member of our community, and we couldn’t be more grateful to him. Last but not least, thank you, Detective Tom Smith and Sergeant John Fortner for helping to make this happen and returning the bike to a happy owner! This is another example of the high caliber of our officers and how much we care about our community members.
